Why is graphic design so important to your business?

Even if graphic design is only one part of the “communication” cornerstone, a little reminder to show you how important it is for your company and not to be taken lightly.

The what?

Graphic design (illustration, graphic design, computer graphics, rough, sketching, typography, etc. … many barbaric names even if some have entered the common language) to say one and the same thing: the visual representation of a concept.

What is the use for my company?

Design presents your public image and dictates the perceptions that people have of your products and services, and therefore of your company.
Isn’t it said that the first image is often the right one? This adage is particularly valid concerning the feeling that we have about a brand or its sign…

It is more than likely that the first thing that will attract the interest of your potential customers is a website or an advertisement, a leaflet, a brochure, the point of sale or the packaging of your product.

All of these products for your customers rely on one impactful aspect, as long as it’s effective and attractive: it’s graphic design.
Quality graphic design is the key to launching and establishing a brand or product that your prospects and customers will recognize at first glance, making it easy to remember.

It seems obvious that by using graphic design as part of a global marketing strategy, you will maximize the return on your advertising budget, and thus stand out from your competitors.

Making your mark with a distinct image and a strong message is the key to standing out from the crowd.

As we have seen before, graphic design serves as a medium to express a feeling or convey information.

But there is something else missing that most people don’t consciously think about: it conveys a notion of credibility, beyond the graphic treatment.

Let’s think about it…

Have you ever visited two different websites selling the same product for the same price… One is professional looking and promotes well presented products, while another uses poor quality images with a more than questionable style and ergonomics.

Which one will you choose once you have made your choice? (at the fateful moment of taking out your credit card…)
It is therefore obvious that choosing a site (for the example) and therefore a company, which has given itself the means
to display an image that lives up to its aspirations will be preferred, because it is more serious and therefore more reliable.

The graphic design does not necessarily reflect the quality of a product, but it is often the first impression that your customer makes. By clearly indicating your positioning, you ensure a certain unconscious reliability in the prospect. Now you have to transform your Internet users/prospects and build their loyalty.

Graphic Designer

Express yourself!

Apart from the “credibility” aspect, the graphic design can express the style of your company and its attitude. Is your company modern chic or aimed at the children’s market? Customers can get an idea of your environment beyond your products per se, if only by the graphic treatment of your image.

Brand new!

Once you’ve established your “look” and message, you can start to tackle the brand.
Everyone has heard of branding – the fixing of a logo or the specific look and feel of your company.

But what does it do?

First, branding brings unity and familiarity to your product. The more familiar a prospect is with something, the more trust and acceptance they will have.

Branding can also evoke feelings or memories, which can help them identify your company.
Keeping a consistent image across all media (website, brochures, ads, etc) helps your future customers remember and recall your brand/product.

Progress/Advance

Think about your company’s image and project it now. Where would you like it to go?
Does it reflect your professionalism and attitude? Could it be better organized?

An accurate presentation of what you exude, your corporate identity as it were, is therefore important, even essential as a key to success.

Without it, some companies skip it because of lack of knowledge or because of the endless aspect of economy of means:
“My nephew draws really well, you’ll see, you don’t need the services of a professional for the same result!”. How many times have we heard that!

To conclude, you should know that a poorly thought graphic design can be counterproductive, or even catastrophic: remember the launch of the website of a presidential candidate: a huge buzz that did her a disservice, (see the press article on the site of the express)

And as a final gift, a nugget of the web which is worth the detour, really… http://www.arngren.net/ (even if the graphic treatment “bazaar” style can be judicious in certain cases, to express the aspect of abundance and to give the impression to the Net surfer that it will inevitably find something interesting, that will be worth a post about it!)

… To be meditated !
